Fort Worth Police & Fire Fighters Association names Balcom as its agency of record
FORT WORTH, Texas – The Balcom Agency has created a new website for the Fort Worth Police & Fire Fighters Memorial project and is also providing public relations services, including preparations for a city-wide dedication in the late spring of 2009. The Fort Worth Police and Fire Fighters Memorial will be a place to honor and pay tribute to the city's fallen heroes. It will honor three deputy marshals, 55 police officers and 37 firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty since the city's earliest days. The memorial is designed with the flexibility to continue honoring individuals killed in the line of duty in the future.
Designed by Fort Worth architects Gideon Toal, the memorial will feature black granite kiosks that will take visitors through several eras of Fort Worth history and tell the stories of some of our fallen heroes. A decomposed granite path winding through the trees will guide visitors to the heart of the memorial site, where a massive bronze sculpture of a peace officer, firefighter and riderless horse will tower more than 10 feet above a circular path. Behind the bronze statues, two walls of names will list the fallen peace officers and firefighters. Balfour Beatty is overseeing the memorial's construction and Jack Wilson is the sculptor. The memorial project is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit overseen by a Board of Directors, whose co-chairs are John Stevenson and Bob Kolba. The project manager is Linda Fulmer.
